EMERGENCY ALERT
There looked to be some hope last week with reports saying the main would be repaired by Thursday of last week. Then a couple of workers got injured (which is too bad) and it looks like the city didn’t have the right pipe to fix the break. Thankfully San Diego County is shipping up some sections of pipe to help us get the repair done. Stay classy San Diego!
Our hearts go out to our neighbors who recently experienced a catastrophic water-main failure. Our team had a spare section of pipe that @cityofcalgary needed.
We took action. We’re loading the pipe onto a truck as we speak and shipping it up north with love.— San Diego County Water Authority (@sdcwa)

Now it sounds like it will be another 3-5 weeks before water restrictions can be lifted. Hopefully, it’s closer to 3 weeks than 5… fingers crossed!
Events like this are also good reminders that we should all strive to live more resilient lives. This starts with getting some backup food, water, and supplies.

Rodney’s Oyster Festival - The 6th Annual Oyster Festival, benefitting The Mustard Seed, is on Sunday June 23, 2024. The oyster fest starts at 1:00 pm, and great prizes are to be won! The main shucking competition starts at 2:00 pm, and they will compete to win a trip to the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival in PEI to compete in the Canadian Oyster Shucking Championship (who knew there was such a thing?!?) Amateur schuckers are invited to compete in a fun competition as well.

Calgary's population continues to grow fast. Nearly 100,000 people moved into Calgary last year alone.
It’s not hard to see why houses that go for sale (when priced right) sell quickly.
A friend of mine had multiple offers and recently accepted an offer over their asking price in less than 48 hours when they listed their home for sale.
This population growth has to be driving the recent uptick in new housing starts. Across Canada, housing starts are at a seven-month high, as CMHC estimates that a minimum of 3.5 million homes must be built by 2030 to restore affordability.
RENTAL REAL ESTATE
The one-bedroom, One-Bath Condo Across From The U of C we shared last week, advertised for $2,000/m, was snapped up quickly. I was sure that was a great deal! Another unit in the same building was listed for $2,350/m.
Speaking of renting, I’m curious…
