EMERGENCY ALERT

What a week it’s been in Calgary. An important water main broke, causing an emergency alert and a voluntary reduction in water use. It’s been a great reminder NOT to take a hot shower for granted!

The feeder line is expected to be repaired by this Thursday. However, a few additional days of flushing and testing are required before it can be called completely fixed.

I recently saw this tweet showing just how MASSIVE the water main that broke actually is. It’s big enough to drive a truck through it! Hopefully this ordeal will be over and behind us soon enough.

Events like this are also good reminders that we should all strive to live more resilient lives. This starts with getting some backup food, water, and supplies.

This isn’t about being a “doomsday prepper” but instead, a responsible adult (especially if you have kids or family depending on you).

Heritage Park Children’s Festival - Come celebrate the park’s 60th anniversary with this special new event for kids! (Members get free admission go the Children’s Festival.) You’ll be able to make puppets, visit with the animals, watch a play, do crafts, and eat sweet treats from Candy Pop-Up. Horse-drawn wagons, trains, and the one and only S.S. Moyie paddlewheel round out what will be an amazing time at Heritage Park!
